Civilware Hatchet

Published By

So much in the outdoor market is put together cheap to sell fast and last a few uses. If you ask us, we’ll take the stuff that’s a little better made, a bit more durable, with a decent amount of style. This hatchet made by Civilware (a company run by skater Geoff Rowley) is a prime example of what we’re talking about. It’s a drop-forged 1060 high-carbon steel blade that holds an edge, paired with an American hickory handle. Flip it around and use the back of the head as a hammer (it won’t mind) and when the work’s done, slide it into its included leather sheath.

The 5.5 inch head, 13.5 inch handle and 2.5 pounds overall weight make it a well-balanced hatchet that feels right in your hand. Make your choice of a black, smoke or natural handle and get to know an outdoor tool that’s going to last through many trips, plus a lifetime or two. – $99
