1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Custom Station Wagon

Have you ever experienced the smooth glide and comfortable ride of an old Cadillac? If not, you don’t know what you’re missing. From summer evenings at the drive-in to getting ice cream on a sticky night, every ride in this 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Custom Station Wagon comes with two scoops of nostalgia.

Do you remember those times riding in that old Caddy? When the crack of the baseball against the bat carried over the airwaves like a cool breeze blowing through your hair with the windows down. After the game, the soothing sounds of the oldies carried you home with your favorite melodies. This custom 1959 Eldorado is that. This tastes like that.

Best of all? You don’t even have to be Bruce Springsteen to find out what goes on in the back of this “Pink Cadillac”. That’s because this particular 1959 Cadillac Eldorado is available for sale through Mecum Auctions.

Although it wasn’t built “One Piece at a Time” by smuggling parts out of the GM factory like the famous Johnny Cash song, this Eldorado does have an interesting build story. $2.3 million was spent doing a custom build on this Eldorado over a 15-year span.

So, what is it exactly? Well, more commonly known as the CadMad, this custom build is actually the marriage of a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado with a 1956 Chevy Nomad. It took over 4,000 hours along with lots of blood, sweat, and tears to build this masterpiece.

Originally number 85 out of the 99 total Pininfarina-designed 1959 Brougham edition Eldorado models, the builders modified a lot of things on this car. That hard work has paid off in the form of recognition and awards such as the 2019 Autorama Ridler Award.

Other highlights of this custom-built Eldorado Nomad Custom Station Wagon include a $97,000 Warrior Series V8 engine built by Tom Nelson Racing Engines. That’s right, this blast from the past runs on racing fuel.

The twin-turbocharged V8 engine pumps out an astounding 1,025 horsepower. Believe it or not, peak hp occurs at only 7.5 psi of boost. The list of custom parts used to build this engine is pretty much a mirror reflection of any gearhead’s wish list if they were to forge a twin-turbo V8 racing engine.

After all these years, you’ll finally be able to tell The Boss what happens in the back of your “Pink Cadillac”. Every time you put the pedal to the medal in this 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Custom Station Wagon, you’ll feel the pit of your stomach behind you as you race forward like a pink bat out of hell.

If that sounds like a good way to spend your time on a Saturday night, you just might feel out of sight in a car like this. You’ll certainly be out of reach to any unsuspecting rivals who think they’re cute at stoplights.

One rev of this beastly twin-turbo V8 and they’ll know to back down. There certainly aren’t groceries in the back of your Pink Cadillac, that’s for sure. It’s entirely up to you if you flash your tail lights or not at that point.

If this is the Caddy you’ve been looking for to get on par for the course, you know what you need to do from here. Happy bidding and enjoy the ride.
