1992 Ferrari F40

Many generations of automotive enthusiasts instantly recognize the 1992 Ferrari F40 when they see it. They may not all be able to name the year or model, but they sure as hell can tell you it’s a Ferrari right off the bat. This is not just an iconic car, it covered more walls with posters than centerfolds did in the late 80s and 90s.

If the F40 is your dream car, this particular model is available through RM Sotheby’s. It could be yours in all of its Ferrari red beauty. There are many reasons why getting behind the wheel of an F40 can solve all your problems.

For starters, you get 478 horsepower with 425 pound-feet of torque to throw around in a chassis tuned for racing. This is a race car, not a typical production Ferrari. The F40 is also the very last model developed under legendary founder Enzo Ferrari.

If that is not enough to send chills up your spine, consider the sound of the 2.9L twin-turbo V8 nearing peak power at 7,000 rpm. Now, use those ventilated disc brakes to come to a complete stop. Why? Because it is another opportunity to rip the F40 from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 3.8 seconds.

If you keep going you will reach a top speed of 201 mph. Hopefully there is enough track to get there if you are actually attempting it. Bring your helmet.

Ferrari originally planned on making 400 F40 models but customer demand drove the final production number up to 1,315 from 1987 to 1992. Out of those, only 213 made their way to the United States. This is one of them.

In fact, in 1992, Ferrari only sent a total of 60 F40 models stateside. Again, this is one of them.

It is in pristine condition with complete ownership and service history records. There is just over 3,300 miles on the odometer leaving plenty of fun left in the tank.

From the five-speed manual gearbox to hearing the engine behind you, the F40 offers a nostalgic Ferrari experience. Like a fine wine from the rolling Italian countryside, the F40 only gets better with time.

For dreams this big, the only way they feel real is to make them come true. It is not every day you find a 1992 Ferrari F40 for sale. That pretty much makes today your lucky day.
