A hundred years ago, a Chevy truck would run you around $1,400, gave you about 37 horsepower and you had the option to build your own cab and cargo box. The new Silverado Chevy unveiled in Dallas this month packs decidedly more (power, luxe, price) than that first One-Ton model. To celebrate a full century of making trucks, Chevy decided to poll 7,000 of its truck owners to see what they wanted. It was the most customer research in the history of the company.
The result is a lighter truck, thanks to a higher grade alloy for the bed floor and an expanded range of models on offer with the most options for engine and transmission combinations yet. The 2019 Silverado will make its public debut in January at the NAIAS in Detroit. After that, feel free to pick one up knowing you won’t have to build your own seats. Learn more at Chevrolet.
