2019 Ford Mustang California Special

Every year sees a new Mustang, but not every year gets the special treatment of the California Special. The limited-edition design package that’s been on again off again since 1968 when Ford made the first limited run of California Specials, will indeed be back for 2019. The big news this time around is the addition of rev-matching. Available on the 6-speed manual models, the feature smooths out shifts between gears when the computer matches the engine rpm to the wheel speed for pro-quality downshifting.

The edition also gets three bold vintage color options: Velocity Blue, Need for Green and Dark Highland Green, for the BULLITT model. Fading racing stripes on the sides and the black and red California Special Badge on the trunk, along with the painted, five-spoke machined wheels complete the look. Inside, suede trimmed seats and a Bang & Olufsen customized sound system bring the style and the (perfectly tuned) noise. Learn more at Ford.
