The Mustang Mach 1 is back and better than ever. With the announcement of the 2021 Mustang Mach 1, Ford ends the 17-year hiatus of the popular pony variation. Every detail of the 2021 Mach 1 celebrates Mustang heritage while paying homage to the original model’s spirit.
Upon first glance, the 2021 Ford Mustang screams classic styling from the accents to the stripes. The bold Mach 1 front fascia and grille dares the breeze to resist every temptation to give in to the Mustang’s graceful stride. Then, the thunder of 480 galloping horses reminds the wind to get out of the way.
Back in the saddle again, Ford’s 5.0L V8 features 480 horsepower with track-ready tuning. 2021 Mach 1 buyers may choose between a Tremec 3160 6-speed manual transmission from Ford Performance or a 10-speed automatic.
Many components from the all-new Mach 1 are Shelby GT350 and GT500 parts, with slight revisions. This kind of engineering shows Ford’s dedication to delivering the “most track capable 5.0-liter Mustang ever.”
The all-new Mach 1 Mustang is already a capable handling machine, but Ford offers even more performance as an optional upgrade. An available Handling Package offers even more on-track performance and capability.
For example, the Mach 1’s unique aerodynamic tuning creates 22 percent more downforce than Mustang GT models equipped with Performance Pack Level 1. When adding the optional Handling Package, the Mach 1 experiences a 150 percent increase in downforce over those same GT models.
To offer even more vehicle control technology, Ford goes the extra mile with the Mach 1. Making its first appearance in any version of the Mustang, Ford is outfitting the 2021 Mach 1 with a rev-matching system. This technology improves vehicle stability while shifting gears.
Sticky 19-inch wheels keep the 9.5-inch wide front tires on the road, with slightly wider (10-inch) rims in the rear. The five spoke Tarnished Dark-painted rims are a modern version of classic Magnum-styled wheels. Ford includes even wider wheels with the Handling Package.
Inside the Mach 1, drivers enjoy a tailored experience. A Dark Spindrift instrument panel with aluminum accents provides stylish convenience. Each model also features engraved badging displaying the vehicle’s unique chassis number.
Just like the original, the modern version falls right between Mustang GT and Shelby models. All Mach 1 variations include Satin Black side and hood stripes with reflective accent stripes in your choice from three colors: Red, White and Orange (Appearance Package only). 2021 Mach 1 Exterior paint color options include the model exclusive Fighter Jet Gray (Appearance Package only), Iconic Silver, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Race Red or Grabber Yellow.

When Ford’s COO chimes in on a modern muscle car while referencing himself as a fan, you know supply will have a tough time keeping up with demand. Since the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a limited-edition run, they may prove to be difficult to acquire if you don’t act fast.
For most drivers and enthusiasts, the stable can never have enough Mustangs. The only thing left to decide is which color to get.
