2022 Land Rover Defender 90 V8 Carpathian Edition

For 2021, Land Rover gave the Defender it’s first complete redesign, ever, gaining a good deal of attention in the process. That just means this year, they needed to come up with something pretty eye-ball-grabbing to keep up. Enter the Land Rover Defender 90 V8 Carpathian Edition. The price tag of over $100,000 is the headline-getter, but it’s the slew of tech and features that really makes this one exceptional edition of an already legendary vehicle.

With 518 horsepower and a 149 mph top speed, it’s leagues beyond the standard Defender 90 with its 206 hp/119 mph specs, but the Carpathian matches the numbers for the 2022 Defender 90 V8. Where the Carpathian sets itself apart is in the design elements. Most obvious is the custom Carpathian Grey metallic paint job and the contrasting Narvik Black roof, hood, and tailgate. Slightly more subtle, but no less cool looking, are the Xenon Blue brake calipers.

Carpathian branding can be found throughout. And up top there’s a sliding panoramic roof. Inside, Land Rover went for the same high-end touches as the 90 V8, like suedecloth seats with 14-way heating and cooling, a head-up display, illuminated tread plates, wireless device charging and signal booster, and a 825 watt Meridian sound system with 14 speakers and subwoofer.

It’s finished off with gloss skid pans and a protective PU-wrap that gives the Carpathian a cool matte look — that also protects your $100k investment from parking lot dings and road pebbles when you’re blasting down the highway.
