Are you ready for the newest generation of the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 R? Even if you are not ready, the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 R was unveiled at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and it is looking for future drivers.
Racing teams who partner with Porsche will be able to use the new 911 in GT3 regulated motorsports events. Porsche gave the new 911 GT3 R a larger engine producing 565 PS or approximately 557 mechanical horsepower.
The previous model featured a similar water-cooled flat-six cylinder engine but displacement has increased from 4.0L up to 4.2L. The engine features four-valve technology and direct fuel injection. Porsche optimized the torque and power band across the entire rev range, they claim this engine is “better suited for gentleman drivers”.
On top of that, Porsche tuned the aerodynamics even better than before while optimizing overall vehicle balance. Best of all, the 911 body is still based on the gorgeous 992-generation. This race car looks good. Really good.
A six-speed sequential racing gearbox puts you in control of this beastly naturally-aspirated engine using paddle shifters. A three-plate carbon race clutch is always ready for you to make your next move.
Keep in mind, the engine is in the rear giving you exceptional traction and braking capabilities. The 911 GT3 R offers pure Porsche driving dynamics which is very exciting when you are behind the wheel.
Like most other things on the 2023 911 GT3 R, the suspension sees massive improvements. Porsche wanted to reduce the wear and tear of the rear tires while providing more steering precision. The front suspension setup is a double-wishbone while the rear features a multi-link design.
Porsche even designed the underbody of the 911 GT3 R to be aerodynamically efficient. AP racing brake calipers assist with your stopping power. Almost all body panels are derived from lightweight carbon-fiber.
This car runs on a minimum of 98 octane and it comes with a price tag of 511,000 Euros plus VAT. If you think you are ready for GT3 regulation racing, this 911 is a fine choice indeed. It is a single-seater and comes loaded with authentic racing components throughout the entire car. After all, it is homologated for the FIA GTE category.
Luckily, if you do not feel you are quite ready for FIA GTE racing, you can still rest assured there are plenty of 992-generation 911 cars that are more accessible and affordable from Porsche. They just will not quite be the advanced motorsports machine that the GT3 R is and that is probably okay for most drivers. There is no doubt this race car will likely make its way to Gran Turismo 7 when it is ready. For most fans, that will be the easiest way to experience this car.
