Amazon Scout

You may have seen Amazon delivery trucks out and about in your neighborhood, delivering smiley boxes directly to your door.  Or perhaps you’ve taken advantage of Amazon’s expanding range of pick-up lockers at your local 7-Eleven, Chase Bank, or Whole Foods.  While the online shopping mecca has considered many options to speed delivery services (including an army of drones), what you might begin to spy roving your neighborhood in the near future are Amazon Scout devices.

Six of these autonomous, sky-blue wagons are being tested on city sidewalks in Snohomish County, Washington to ensure they can navigate people, pets, and other impediments on their delivery routes.  When they arrive at your location, you will presumably be alerted so you can come out to claim your package.  No news yet on what happens if you’re not home to receive the delivery. – Learn More
