French watch brand Bell & Ross has mastered the art of designing busy complex watch faces that are somehow still perfectly legible. The BR 05 Skeleton Nightlum takes this miraculous skill to the next level by fully skeletonizing the timepiece’s movement. This means that the watch face is the exposed automatic caliber, an intricate assembly of gears, a balance spring, and more. With a smoked sapphire plate, and hints of black and green hues, it’s beautiful to look at even if you aren’t horologically inclined.
Regardless of all the literal moving parts, you can easily read the time, even at a glance. The sophisticated but exceedingly simple metal applique indices and hands are a legible contrast to the movement. They’re also filled with a green Super-LumiNova for perfect legibility in pitch black conditions.
Bell & Ross only built 500 of these unique timepieces. This model features a reasonable 40mm satin-finished and polished steel case, a sapphire crystal and caseback, and 100m of water resistance.
