David Brabham, Le Mans 24 Hours winner and son of three-time Formula 1 champion Sir Jack Brabham, recently revealed the BT62 at the Australia House in London and, with it, his intent to re-establish the Brabham name in global competition. Limited to 70, drivers who purchase the BT62 will also join the Brabham driver development program led by David Brabham himself, designed to help owners develop competition-worthy abilities in the track-only supercar.
The rear-wheel-drive BT62 boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 730 bhp per ton thanks to its 972 kg dry weight, and 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 quad-cam engine — for the sake of comparison, the McLaren Senna brags a 660bhp per ton ratio. Brabham engineers estimate the beast is capable of creating more than 1200kg of downforce which, coupled with the bespoke chassis that is free of driver aids, makes the driver coaching sessions with Brabham seem less like a perk and more like a necessity for any driver intent on keeping the track-day monster on the ground.
