There used to be a time when getting craft beer in or from Brooklyn meant heading to one place — Brooklyn Brewery itself. A pioneer in the city’s beer scene that continues to push the needle, the famed brewery now has much wider distribution and appeal, but that’s not a bad thing at all.
The Brooklyn Brewery Winter Lager is as fine an example of that as any, a unique style that riffs off the classics and carves out its own space in your beer fridge. The brewery notes that this beer is its way of pushing back against heavy stouts and porters — although we appreciate those as well — and it shows in the process.
Inspired by Schwarzbier lager, you’re looking at a pleasing 5.6 percent ABV with a finish that’s light and dry. The combo should be pleasant to sip on through many a cold fall and winter evening — and the great thing is, you don’t even have to go to Brooklyn to get it. – Learn More
