Eagle’s typical yearly vehicle production is equal to about four models. They dedicate their meticulous attention to detail and perfectionist approach to each individual hand-built masterpiece they produce.
From all appearances, the opportunity to drive an Eagle Lightweight GT E-Type is definitely worth the wait. The Jaguar E-Type is an iconic automobile. When revealed in 1961, even Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever made.” Later in 1963, a Lightweight E-Type was born. Of course, this version is ridiculously rare as only 12 total versions ever existed until 2014. That’s when Jaguar unveiled six “reborn” versions of their historic classic.
Then, there’s Eagle. Established in 1984, Eagle has long had an affinity for the Jaguar E-Type. Since 1991, Eagle has completely re-manufactured the E-Type, bringing it back to life, better than ever before. After over 35 years of designing and more than 4,000 hours into the build, the Eagle Lightweight GT E-Type is here.
Eagle re-defines the possibilities of applying modern technology to vintage designs. Their version is lighter, more powerful, and features a much-improved chassis. It is not until you see the power to weight numbers where the ratio becomes alarmingly enticing for gearheads.
Weighing in at a featherweight 2,243 pounds is impressive enough, but toss in 380 brake horsepower with 375 ft-lbs of torque and you have a rocket on wheels. Seriously, this car can fly. With a top speed of 170-plus miles per hour while being capable of going from 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds, you will feel every lateral-G.
Thanks to Eagle’s evolutionary take on Jaguar’s famous inline-6 cylinder engine, the 4.7L features an aluminum block instead of iron. Along with several other performance engine modifications by Eagle, the journey up to peak power at 5,750 rpm will make you feel like a smiling kid in a go-kart. Unfortunately, only a limited number of drivers will ever be able to experience that feeling.
