As someone who sits at a desk for long hours every day, it’s safe to say I’m a bit obsessed with finding the perfect office chair.
I’ve tested at least two dozen different office chairs over the last few years in my quest to find the one that offers me ample lower back and neck support, comfortable cushioning, and the best all-season design (useful in cold and hot weather).
My research led me to the Flexispot C7, an office chair that gets high marks for being both budget-friendly and incredibly versatile. I’ve spent the last few weeks testing the chair, and I can definitely see why it’s so well-rated.
Below, you’ll find my full hands-on (or should I say, butt-on?) review of this ergonomic office chair and my verdict on whether it’s the right chair for you.
Specs: Breezy Comfort
Before I get into my thoughts, let’s examine the chair’s specs:
- Chair Height: Up to 52.9 inches
- Chair Width: 29.5 inches
- Seat Width and Depth: 21 x 20 inches
- Weight: 55 pounds
- Weight Capacity: 300 pounds
- Materials: aluminum alloy base, foam seat, elastomer and velvet yarn mesh
Size and Capacity
Standing at up to 52.9 inches tall (elevated to its highest height setting) and 29.5 inches wide, the Flexispot C7 is about average for office chair size.

While some gaming and office chairs prefer a larger, more luxurious construction, the Flexispot C7 keeps it sleek and compact, making it easier to fit into tight office spaces.
The chair is sized for people between 5’10 and 6’10, with a weight capacity of up to 300 pounds. It’s one of the few chairs I tested that felt perfect for my 6’6”, 250-pound frame.
Comfort
There are a lot of features in the C7 that have been added for user comfort:
- A self-adjustive, adaptive lumbar system. The support “cushion” (really a mesh-covered framework) detects postural changes and moves to adjust itself to maximize comfort and lumbar support as you sit.
- Multiple sitting positions. I’ll get into this in greater detail below, but I found that it was incredibly easy to adjust the chair in its multiple configurations to test various sitting positions.
- Wide, large-set cushions. I’m a big guy and have a hard time finding chairs that allow me to sit comfortably for long hours. The extra-large cushion on the chair provided all the support I wanted and felt very spacious.
- Soft but dense foam seat. The foam seat is soft enough that you slowly sink into it and it conforms to the shape of your butt and legs, but it’s nicely dense and provides excellent support. I’ve spent 8-hour days sitting in this chair and haven’t once felt the aches or pains I’ve experienced with other less-cushioned chairs.
- Mesh backing. I tend to run very hot in the summer, which makes sitting in leather seats incredibly uncomfortable. The mesh backing on the C7 kept me very nice and cool by comparison. I sweated noticeably less throughout the day, and felt far more comfortable while working.
Thanks to all these features, the C7 proved to be the most comfortable chair I’ve ever worked in (except for one very important factor, as you’ll see below),
Versatility
Flexispot designed the C7 to be an incredibly versatile chair. It has a pretty impressive number of adjustment options, including:
- Lumbar support placement
- Headrest height and placement
- Seat tilt angle
- Backrest tilt
- Armrest height, angle, and position
- Seat height
Unfortunately, only a few of the adjustment knobs and handles are labeled clearly. I also found the instructions in the provided manual were a bit lacking in clear explanations of how to configure certain aspects of the chair.
Thankfully, the C7 product page on the Flexispot website has clear graphics that I made it a bit easier to figure out the adjustments. I put the chair through its paces and tested every aspect—from chair height to seat tilt, from armrest position and height to headrest placement.
Overall, the chair performed beautifully in all of my tests. When gaming or watching videos, I could sit for hours and was impressed by the support for my head, upper back, lower back, and arms.
But—and this is a big but—it didn’t quite function for me as a work chair.
You see, when I work, I prefer to sit with a more upright posture.

I do like plenty of lumbar support, but I find that I am more productive when sitting upright rather than leaning back.
And with the C7, I had to lean quite far back because of the lumbar support.
Here I am sitting with my back fully against the chair:

Here I am sitting in my normal posture:

As you can see, I have plenty of support for my lower back, but because the lumbar support frame presses so far forward (even after adjusting it), I can’t sit up as straight as feels comfortable and productive.
Another issue I’ve found is that when I’ve set the seat to my desired height (the ideal angle for my knees), the armrests are just tall enough that they don’t fit beneath my desk. That prevents me from sliding my chair forward far enough that I could work even at the reclined angle.

For these two reasons, the C7 doesn’t work for me as a work chair, despite being ideal for a gaming chair.
Durability
I haven’t used the C7 long enough to put its durability to the test. I can say that even after weeks of testing and sitting for 6-8 hours a day, I’m seeing no sag in the mesh, no dips in the seat cushion, and no wear and tear on the armrests. The build quality feels excellent, sturdy, and like it will last me for years to come.

It should come as no surprise that Flexispot is incredibly confident in the quality of their chair. They’ve put it through a wide range of tests:
- 120,000 times testing the armrest durability
- 8,000 times testing the backrest strength
- 8,000 times testing the static load
- 120,000 times testing the cyclic pneumatic height adjustor
- 90,000 times testing the caster wheels
The fact that it comes with a 10-year warranty on the armrests and wheeled base, a 3-year warranty on the seat and adjustors, and a 2-year warranty on the pneumatic height adjustor makes it clear that this is a chair that will hold up to hardcore use—even from a tall, heavy guy like me.
My Favorite Features
The Flexispot C7 won me over with a few of its features:
- The mesh backing that kept this heavy sweater beautifully cool even on hot days.
- The integrated and prominent lumbar support.
- The oversized seat with its soft but dense foam padding.
- The multitude of adjustment options that let me customize the chair however I want.
- The modern, stylish look and sleek design.
What I Didn’t Like
Honestly, the only thing that stopped me from immediately trading out my current chair for the Flexispot C7 is the combination of the prominent lumbar support and the height of the armrests.
Because the armrest is just too tall (by about 1 inch) and can’t be lowered, I can’t slide the chair forward under my desk far enough to make the reclining angle comfortable. And because the lumbar support cushion pushes too far forward, I can’t sit upright comfortably with my full back against the chair.
This may be a problem unique to me, I recognize that, but for this reason alone, the C7 doesn’t work as the ideal office chair.
Note: I do recognize that pairing the C7 with Flexispot’s E7 standing desk could eliminate this problem entirely. Being able to raise the desk by 1-2 inches would allow me to slide far enough forward to reach my keyboard from the reclined position.
Best Uses
Gamers, this one’s for you! The chair is incredibly comfortable for long hours of sitting in a reclined position with ample head and back support.
People who spend a lot of time on video conference and Zoom calls will also love the chair. It’s thickly padded and cradles your butt and legs nicely, but the cushioning is soft enough you’ll feel no discomfort even if you’re sitting for hours at a time.
Recap:
The Flexispot C7 impressed me with its comfort, versatility, and the airiness of its mesh-backed design. It’s a strong contender for one of the best overall office chairs I’ve tested.
In fact, were it not for the one quibble I mentioned above, it would already be replacing my current chair.

The Flexispot C7 is currently on sale for $300, but we don’t know for how long.
