The Flying Nest Hotel Concept
A hotel that can go anywhere — and look good doing it. A concept from French designer Ora Ito and built by AccorHotels, these shipping container-based rooms are fully self contained and meant to be moved around the world. Each room features a living space, bedroom, full bathroom, and a private terrace, while linked terraces connect guests to the hotel as a whole. There’s a communal living space for eating, mingling, and getting eyefuls of whatever landscape is on offer at the current locale.
Previous locations have included being planted a few feet from the track at the 24 hour of Le Mans endurance race. The Flying Nest was then set up inside the annual summer photography festival, le Rencontres d’Arles, with a few other stops along the way. The hotel is now stationed where it will live all winter, at the Avoriaz ski area in France. Located at 6,000 feet, guests just need to wake up, and meander over to the ski lifts to get a full day on the slopes. If you want to see it, head to France and have a horse sled take you up to the hotel, because no roads lead to this destination. – Learn More
