Forge Design Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione Ventidue

Reviving the classics with a modern twist is nothing new. It unveils a nostalgic feeling while providing a glimpse of vintage automotive styling that should never be forgotten. That is exactly what the Forge Design Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione Ventidue accomplishes. This is automotive art.

Inspired by the 1959 Paris Motor Show reveal of the Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB in October, this masterpiece defines an era of cool. For example, just one month before Ferrari revealed this car, Miles Davis released one of the greatest records of all time in Kind of Blue. All that jazz coincides with the grand opening of the Guggenheim museum in New York shortly after the Ferrari 250 GT unveiling.

This was an era of hand-crafted, old-school design and artform. There were no robots or automation to aid engineering or style. Just the old mitts and brainstorming to guide the way.

Fast forward to 1961 and Ferrari will go on to modify the racing version of the 250 GT SWB. It became known as the Comp 61. It featured a lighter chassis and thin aluminum bodywork. Oh yeah, the engine produced 300 brake-horsepower, which is incredible for its era.

Forge Design wanted to re-imagine this car using modern technology and innovation. They did an exceptional job. In their own words, Forge Design describes the Competizione Ventidue like this, “We wanted to re-imagine the car that Miles Davis might have bought just after his album dropped. This is the car he might have enjoyed, upgraded, even raced.”

This is a Ferrari built from the heart and soul of Enzo’s vision. It has a V12 engine that has been modified using modern engineering to be lightweight. Believe it or not, this V12 engine only weighs 165 kilograms which is approximately 363 pounds. It also features indirect hydrogen injection, something that definitely was not available in 1961.

The Forge Design Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione Ventidue is a gorgeous car. This is perfection. Luckily, this is not just a one-of-a-kind car. You can actually buy a Ventidue if you contact Forge Design. The only problem is, you will feel like this car belongs in a museum and not in your garage, every time you see it.

Timeless art has a way of stirring emotions. The Ventidue falls into that category. On one hand, you are going to want to drive this car every time you glance at it. On the other hand, you will never want to see a single scratch on this car. That’s the dilemma of a car collector. Either way, you still want the Ventidue in your collection. There’s nothing wrong with that.
