Geoff Hollister’s Nike 1 License Plate

Up for auction is the original ‘Nike 1’ license plate that was at one time mounted to the van owned by Geoff Hollister. Hollister was a University of Oregon steeplechase runner coached under Bill Bowerman and one of Nike’s earliest employees.

During the 1970s, Geoff Hollister would commute to to local track meets, sometimes with the first runner to sign with Nike — the legendary Steve Prefontaine, marketing the Nike brand and selling Nike shoes out of his van. This license plate has been confirmed to have been the plate on Hollister’s van during this period. Bidding closes on December 18th, 2023.
