Ah, Greats. If ever there was an aptly named shoe company, it’s these guys. Not only is each new design they put out there worth its literal weight in gold, they use recycled and sustainable materials while consistently pushing themselves to be more responsible shoemakers.
The McCarren Tech Sneaker has a translucent (recycled) mesh upper worked into an old-school trainer design. The old-school trainer look is literally everywhere right now, so it’s refreshing to see a brand do something different with it. It’s not loud or flashy like a goldfish in a platform shoe, but the translucent mesh, contrast stitching, and wide mesh heel wrap give these a subtle style variation.
With the footbeds built from otherwise-detrimental algae bloom and the soles made from recycled rubber, The McCarrens have a lot going for them in terms of sustainability with a style that looks good—no, great—on ya.
