Honda Rugged Open Air Vehicle

Published By

Someone over at Honda R&D Americas wondered what would happen if a Ridgeline pickup was somehow merged with an off-roading UTV such as Honda’s Pioneer 1000. That someone looked around, saw a sandbox filled with exactly the right parts, tools, and resources and decided to find out.

The result is the Honda Rugged Open Air concept vehicle, which was recently shown off at this year’s SEMA show. The body and suspension are modified Ridgeline (goodbye roof, so long window glass), while the Pioneer influence comes in the overall look of the vehicle, as well as in the contribution of doors, steering wheel and seat coverings, with custom paneling modeled after the Pioneer aesthetic. Extras include RAM Mount smartphone holders and weatherproofed instrument panels. It looks insanely fun to drive, and must have been fun to build.
