According to the team responsible for this beast, the KTM X-Bow GT-XR Supercar “is the closest you can get to a purebred race car in a road-legal vehicle”. If you are a high-performance gearhead, that statement from KTM definitely has your attention.
They make an even bolder statement, saying this street-legal supercar is ready to race, right out of the box. Not to be confused with the old RTR, or ready to run RC cars from your childhood, the X-Bow version of RTR will lead you straight to the race track.
Considering this street-legal supercar is based on the KTM X-BOW GT2 race car, it should not be a surprise that the GT-XR can back up the company’s claims. At the heart of its performance is an inline 2.5L five-cylinder TFSI engine from Audi. That means this engine is turbocharged as TFSI stands for turbo fuel stratified injection.
This turbo five-cylinder produces 493 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. That translates to a zero to 62 miles per hour time of 3.4 seconds while enabling the GT-XR to reach a top speed of 174 mph. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission keeps you in the optimal torque range at all times.
Upon first glance, you see the shapely silhouette of the X-Bow GT-XR reveals a smooth design with the kind of sharp corners that resembles the hairpin turns you will be able to handle with ease. A lightweight carbon fiber monocoque chassis design helps keep the GT-XR light on its feet.
