There’s a new Lexus in town but this one doesn’t just stick to the streets. The all-new Lexus J201 Concept dares to stray from the beaten path whenever it can.
Upon first glance, you will notice subtle similarities to the Lexus LX 570 SUV. That is because Lexus based the J201 on the LX design. This isn’t your typical LX though, the lifted J201 is supercharged and looking to stir things up right out of the gate.
The J201 name comes directly from the Lexus LX 570 chassis code which is URJ201. From hardcore off-roading to exploring your sense of adventure, the J201 is ready to go. Lexus even anticipates the J201 will provide the ideal mobility solution for Experiential Adventurers.
Lexus gave the J201 a daunting task for its debut by running it at the 2020 Rebelle Rally event. The defending champions Rachelle Croft and Taylor Pawley of The X Elles guided the J201 to an impressive second-place finish.
The Rebelle Rally is a 10-day event where women compete to be the best in the world over a 2,000 kilometer stretch of challenging elements and terrain. It takes place across portions of California and Nevada.
Take a peek under the hood of the J201 for a pleasant surprise. The Lexus J201 Concept features a 5.7L V8 engine with a Magnuson supercharger. As a result, the J201 produces 550 horsepower with 550 pound-feet of torque, plenty of juice for overlanding success.
You never know what may cross your path when you are venturing into the unknown. That’s why Lexus prepared the J201 for an apocalypse.
Should the grille become fully submerged underwater, there is a snorkel air intake system to keep the J201 breathing while going full speed ahead. High-performance locking differentials in the front and rear will keep the 17-inch wheels moving. There are even two on-board compressors should you ever need to re-inflate one of the 33-inch General Grabber tires on the go.
The J201 custom 4×4 concept is both luxurious and powerful. This Lexus is not afraid to get a little mud on it, the custom suspension system to absorb the shock of uneven terrain is just more proof. There is also a five-gallon water tank, winch, and additional light bar along the custom front bumper.
In other words, listen to your inner explorer when you are roaming the wilderness in the J201, go wherever your compass leads you. If all goes according to plan, the J201 Concept will pave the way to more future off-roading success for Lexus. What will they do next?
