Breaking ground on the future of their prestigious brand, the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept is the first of its kind in more ways than one. Obviously, it is the very first all-electric vehicle from Lexus but that is only the tip of the iceberg. It also uses augmented reality and artificial intelligence to connect the driver with the vehicle in a new way, another first.
Make no mistake about it, this is a pure EV experience. It also pushes the boundaries of what was previously possible. Lexus engineered an all-new powertrain with a lower center of gravity designed to improve driving performance.
Powering the LF-Z is the new Lexus Direct4 system. This is next-generation luxury, providing a smooth riding experience without sacrificing performance potential. This electric drive technology distributes power from each axle to each individual wheel whenever driving dynamics demand it.
The new Lexus EV system uses two motors which can switch between front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive to improve driving stability. To keep steering precise, Lexus uses advanced Steer-by-Wire technology. It is a full electronic steering system, obviously, there is no power steering pump.
Inside the LF-Z, it is all about the efficient use of space. Imagine having a full interactive user interface at your fingertips in the cockpit of your car. That is exactly what the interior experience of the augmented reality head-up display module is like in the LF-Z.
Passengers can look up to enjoy the view under the electrochromic roof with the simple touch of a button. Push it to turn the opaque roof into a full transparent panoramic viewing experience under the comfort of light-controlling glass.
There is also full LED ambient interior lighting, customizable to set the mood to your preference. Even the doors of the LF-Z are thinking ahead, scanning the areas around the vehicle for oncoming traffic before opening.
From its futuristic styling to the human-centered experience, the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept is reimagining what the automotive experience will be. If this concept gains any traction, there will be plenty of interest. What will Lexus think of next?
