Lotus sure does know how to build a dapper looking car. They’ve been doing it with a touch of racing flair since 1948. The Lotus Emira GT4 catches the eye from nearly every angle. Thankfully, it is as fast as it looks.
That’s probably a good thing too because Lotus specifically designed this Emira to compete in both national and international GT4 racing. The Emira GT4 is an actual race car. It is lightweight, cashing in at only 1,300 kilograms when dry. That translates to a dry weight of approximately 2,866 pounds.
Believe it or not, this is the very last new gas-powered model from Lotus. The Emira GT4 is the end of an era for Lotus, a company with a very prestigious racing heritage. In the future, you will see EV racers from the distinguished British automobile manufacturer.

Although the road-going version of the Emira features an AMG 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine, the GT4 version of the Emira comes with a little extra hot sauce. The Emira GT4 features a 3.5L supercharged V6 engine from Toyota producing 400 horsepower.
An Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission shifts gears in the Emira GT4 while Alcon disc brakes provide the stopping power. Other highlights include an unequal-length control arm suspension system. Don’t expect to find a lot to write home about on the inside, after all, it is a race car.
That means it will have a roll cage, racing seat, steering wheel and that’s about it. The only radio inside the Lotus Emira GT4 will be the one in your racing helmet to talk to your crew. Of course, you will find a fire extinguisher inside the cockpit, in case things get a little too heated out there on the track.
This transverse-mid-engine mounted race car is all about one thing and that’s driving. With the rear-wheel-drive layout, this is the last combustion engine race car from Lotus and that means it is going to offer a very special but familiar driving experience. Buckle up and get ready for the ride off into the sunset.
