The goosebumps a McLaren brings the moment you see one is like being in the presence of a deity. However, what happens when you combine one of the world’s highest performance supercars with the world’s most extreme hillclimb known as Pikes Peak?

Commissioned by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), they took McLaren Automotive’s Sports Series superstar, the 600LT Spider, and made it capable of enduring the climb. Based in Colorado, McLaren Denver was more than capable of rising to the challenge. The end result is the McLaren Special Ops Pikes Peak 600LT Spider. Talk about goosebumps.

Each of the six colors available on the MSO 600LT Spider are accompanied by Satin Speedline Gold Wheels. The elegant interior is fit for a king, featuring extended paddle shifters to keep your attention on the road ahead coupled with plenty of gold accents to go around.

You can’t talk about McLaren without mentioning performance. This beauty features a twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter V8 producing 692 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. This allows the MSO Spider to achieve a 0-60 time of only 2.8 seconds.

McLaren knows a car this fast needs to be able to do a few other things. Two of the most important are handling and braking. The front and rear double wishbones combined with the latest high performance braking technology available have this supercar ready for intense mountain driving. With the ability to go from 124 mph to a standstill in only 384 feet, the McLaren 600LT Spider features elite stopping power.

The interior and exterior feature plenty of carbon fiber, and if that’s not enough to make your inner gearhead drool, check out the titanium wheel bolts for the finishing touch.

Of course, no McLaren would be complete if it did not stay true to the company’s heritage of building astonishing cars. McLaren’s precision engineering focuses on increased power, reduced weight, perfected aerodynamics, complete driver engagement, track-tuned dynamics, and well, limited availability.

With only six McLaren Special Operations Pikes Peak 600LT Spiders in existence, the chills of being in rare company will make your knees buckle should you ever see one in person.
