For years, men’s watches were increasing in size, not to mention bold, sometimes gaudy, sometimes over-the-top features & design touches. While we love a durable field watch, it can all be a bit much sometimes. And yet, there’s one brand that’s never strayed too far from the path: Timex.
It’s fitting, then, that Timex and Todd Snyder are back with a just-released take on an archival style, dubbed the Todd Snyder x Timex Mid-Century Watch. It’s the latest in the very fruitful, very stylish partnership between the all-American watch brand and the lauded New York City (by way of Iowa) designer.
The watch made its debut during a richly crafted New York Fashion Week show, and felt right at home with Snyder’s handsome sweaters and stunning outerwear (all launching this fall). However, the classic silhouette is at home far beyond the runway. That’s due largely to the refined, slimmed down 37mm case diameter, a fitting throwback to the way watches used to be made.
The refined stainless steel case is complemented handsomely by a black or brown leather strap, plus a day-date window. This is exactly the kind of watch that wouldn’t have looked out of place decades ago. When worn with the right menswear essentials (everything from a chambray shirt and faded denim to a grey flannel suit), it certainly doesn’t look out of place in the present day. – Shop Now
