National Lampoon’s Vacation Station Wagon

This year’s Barrett-Jackson auto auction in Palm Beach has some impressive machines headed to the auction block. A 2014 Ferrari Berlinetta, a 1967 Shelby GT500, a 2012 McLaren 12C, and this: a metallic pea green, wood-paneled Ford station wagon. But it’s not just any green wagon. It’s a replica of the Wagon Queen Family Truckster, the car the family Griswold drove across country on their way to Wally World.

What bidders will be vying for is a replica, so they won’t find any traces of dog leash on the bumper, or deceased aunt on the hood. It also hasn’t been driven off the end of a closed road, and all four hubcaps are accounted for. It’s listed as no reserve, so it could go home with someone for a song — but our guess is the bidding will get rather hot. Because, this is a damn fine automobile if you want our honest opinion, beats the hell out of a sportswagon. – Place Your Bid
