Since so many Speedys lean into their outer space heritage, I love when Omega builds a reference that goes back to its automotive roots—which this Speedmaster Super Racing Chronograph does. Visually, this timepiece sports an actually unique remix, meaning one that doesn’t just involve a color change. The honeycomb pattern on the sandwich dial, something they haven’t done since 2013, adds dimension and is, of course, reminiscent of a car grill. The yellow accents really pop, almost simulating a glow, even when the lume isn’t activated.
Even more, this Speedy is a first in the function department, giving it promising investment potential. Its co-axial Master Chronometer movement is the first to have Omega’s new Spirate System, which adjusts the balance spring so that the Super Racing is accurate at about a minute a month.
