The reality for most truck owners is the need to use your pickup for a combination of work and play. To help truck enthusiasts get the most out of their pickups, Ram is going back to the drawing board. The Ram 1500 Backcountry X Concept aims to be the one-stop-shop for all your trucking needs.
For starters, Ram wants to help you get the most out of your truck’s bed without compromising secure storage options. They started by enhancing the already popular RamBox cargo management feature with additional RamPack and RamRack functionality.
The RamPack storage compartments are located above the RamBox on both sides of the truck bed. Ram claims there is a 68% increase to usable storage space with RamPack. Another innovation that woodworkers will love is the Mopar RamGate task-bench located on the inside of the tailgate. The RamGate includes conversion charts, an angle finder, and Rockler woodworking hardware.
Other features of the Ram Backcountry X Concept include a Mopar two-inch lift kit and a suspension system including FOX shocks. The 20 by 9-inch matte black wheels feature 37-inch BF Goodrich tires. A two-tone matte silver with matte black exterior featuring orange accents provides a rugged and intimidating finish.
Front and rear tow hooks provide get out of jail free cards for those sticky situations. Lighting is enhanced thanks to Mopar five-inch LED off-roading lights. It is easy to get in and out of the Ram 1500 Backcountry X Concept thanks to the Mopar tube steps located on both sides of the cabin. There is even a rear-bed step that you can lower down for easier access to the truck bed.
Inside the Backcountry X, you will find custom accents and logos designating the special Ram edition. There is a work space between the driver and passenger and the floors feature all-weather mats from Mopar.
You will even find a built-in RamVac, an on-board vacuum, located under the second-row bench seat. That does not mean snacks are allowed inside the truck but at least you can clean up if somebody breaks the rules.
