The collaborations from Timex and Nigel Cabourn are matches made in practical-guy Heaven. Cabourn’s over 40-year cult following is thanks to his focus against trends and instead on historical military and outdoor wear, as well as important people. This watch, from its versatile 36mm case to its charmingly domed mineral crystal, is every bit the quintessential camper timepiece. Its inspiration? The photojournalist Sean Flynn, best known for his work covering the Vietnam War.
The custom dial has a triangle-forward design, seen via the edge markers accompanying each hour, and its spotlight-style 12 marker, which adds both personality and legibility. And it wouldn’t be a proper throwback without the much-coveted mineral blur that pulls the dial edges towards it at certain angles.
