Tudor Black Bay 54

Published By

In honor of its source material, the Tudor Black Bay 54 comes with a 37-millimeter case—just like the 1954 Tudor Submariner, reference 7922, did. It’s a welcome and range-expanding addition to the Black Bay clan, not least of which is that it’s just a more comfortable fit for a lot of wrist sizes. Relatedly, the guardless crown sits right up on the case side, adding to that comfort and serving up a modern, sleeker version of a classic silhouette.

And speaking of sleek, beneath the delightfully domed sapphire are errorless applications, gilded, as another nod to its ancestor. It’s luxe and elegant, but not flashy, and doesn’t take away from the sporty vibe. Truly, it’s an aesthetically well-balanced watch. This 54 runs on the MT5400, which is a smaller version of the COSC-certified, high-frequency MT5402 that bigger Black Bays run on.
