This descendant to Vacheron Constantin’s original 1996 chronograph is like a series of experiments gone right. The Panda Dial Overseas Chronograph’s case is heavy on the mecha aesthetics, with an almost gasket-like bezel structure. Still, elegance balances these sporty lines out, showcased by the velvety flange, white gold baton indices, and the silver satin-finished main dial. This brushing, by the way, beautifully matches the satined case body, each going the natural direction of its surface—these are labored-over details.
Fully rounding out this industrial-meets-class approach, is that fact each bracelet looks to integrate with the case thanks to the connected lugs. The 54-jewel Caliber 5200 is viewable through the caseback in all its gold-rotored glory, embossed and marked like the wax seal of an important letter.
