Yema Flygraf Navigator

Naturally, the official watch brand of the French Air Force has served up some iconic pilot timepieces. Still, none are as ubiquitous as the Yema Flygraf from the ‘70s, which is arguably the watch world’s flight watch representative for all of French timekeeping. Yema’s contemporary release, the Flygraf Navigator flaunts the sporty yet scientific look of the original—busier and more dimensional than the average chronograph, but not as crowded as, say, a science watch with a slide rule.

The stacked aesthetic includes several measuring rings surrounding the dial, which is equipped with the signature insert that frames the bottom three subdials. This watch achieves that kind of look that’s classically canon, with brand-specific distinctions. With all of its aviation and calculation functions, it’s also a fun piece of serious gear. The prestigious ETA Valjoux 7750 is famously easy to service and can be as accurate as you need it to be.
