It was only a matter of time before America’s best-selling pickup went electric. That day is finally here thanks to the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro EV pickup truck. Get ready to inject a bolt of lightning into the F-150 experience once again. Fans of the original F-150 Lightning will have to get used to leaving their gas cans home.

Similar to their combustible engine pickups, there will be different configurations available for the F-150 EV from Ford. At this time, they are all purpose-built for commercial fleet use.

Beginning with an MSRP of $39,974 before tax incentives, the base model 4X4 F-150 Lightning Pro will have an estimated 426 horsepower with 775 pound-feet of torque. Powered by a lithium-ion battery, it should have approximately 230 miles of available range on a full charge.

Ford targets a 2,000-pound maximum payload capacity in the base model F-150 Lightning Pro 4X4 EV. Other performance benchmarks for the standard Lightning Pro EV truck include up to 7,700 pounds of towing capacity with the available Max Trailer Tow package. There is even a 32-amp Ford Mobile Charger.

Next in line is the extended-range version of the 2022 F-150 Lightning Pro. This configuration has a starting MSRP of $49,974 before tax incentives. Ford projects this truck to have 563 hp with 775 pound-feet of torque. Drivers will enjoy 300 miles of range on a full charge.

The $49,974-level Lightning Pro features an 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro. Combined with the two on-board chargers, this enables more affordable Level 2 overnight charging using AC power instead of DC. Ford estimates this version will feature 10,000 pounds of available towing capacity.

Both configurations provide innovative pickup truck storage solutions. One of the most convenient storage features is the first-ever Ford Mega Power Frunk. Instead of finding an engine under the hood, you will have 14.1 cubic-feet of available storage space.

The lockable Power Frunk is also watertight and can carry up to 400 pounds of tools or other cargo. There are even four 120-volt AC outlets in the frunk as well as two USB ports. You will find additional outlets in the cab and 5.5-foot rear cargo bed.

Should you charge your Lightning Pro at home and lose your electricity, the F-150 can act as a Backup Power Solution for your home. This optional feature is the Ford Intelligent Backup Power package and it will definitely come in handy when you need it most.

Converting to a zero-emission fleet has never been easier or more accessible thanks to Ford. A little over a century after inventing the assembly line, Ford continues to streamline the automotive industry with the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro. Get ready for the future of the F-150, it’s going to be electric.
