For several generations now, the Silverado continues to be one of the most recognizable and popular trucks on the market. Now, future generations will get to experience Chevy’s flagship pickup truck beginning with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV.
That’s right, the Silverado is getting ready to go electric on a road near you soon. Chevy expects at least a 400-mile range on a full charge with select configurations of the new Silverado electric vehicle.
Even better, the EV Silverado truck is going to bring 10,000 pounds of trailering capacity to the table. Configurations will be available featuring up to 664 horsepower with 780 pound-feet of torque.
It may be quieter than the truck you are used to but it won’t even miss a beat when it comes to performance and capability. General Motors estimates a 0 to 60 miles per hour time of under 4.5 seconds in select Silverado models.
You will also have 1,300 pounds of available payload at your disposal in the electric Silverado. Developed from the foundation as an EV, Chevy is using the General Motors Ultium EV Platform for the Silverado.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV will be available in two configurations: the RST First Edition or the fleet-oriented WT edition. Obviously the WT still stands for Work Truck.
As for the RST First Edition, it comes with all the goodies you want including four-wheel steering, automatic adaptive air suspension, and even trailering-capable Super Cruise. You’ll enjoy access to over 200,000 miles of compatible roads across the United States and Canada without lifting a finger thanks to this advanced hands-free driver assistance technology.
One of the more convenient features on the Silverado RST First Edition is a multi-flex midgate design providing you with more cargo versatility. There is even an available multi-flex tailgate featuring a power release function.
On top of that, there will be a multi-color head-up display so the driver can keep their eyes on the road whenever taking control of the steering wheel. From the infotainment system featuring a 17-inch screen to the standard DC charging capability, the Silverado EV is generating a lot of buzz.
Chevy even plans to release an upgraded fleet Silverado EV model down the line featuring up to 20,000 pounds of max trailering ability. At launch, there will be an available accessory providing 10.2kW of power to up to 10 outlets on-board the Silverado.
You will even be able to use the new Silverado EV to power your home if you have the required equipment. Packed with features, technology, and performance, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV cannot arrive soon enough for many enthusiasts. Stay tuned to GM for more details.
