Toughness, durability, and never afraid of getting dirty to get the job done. Everything you love about Chevy’s heavy duty trucks is back for the new model year and the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD ZR2 is the perfect example of that. In fact, this is the first time ever Chevy has offered a ZR2 edition of the Silverado HD truck.
When you really think about it, the two go together like peanut butter and jelly. Some of the most challenging jobsites to reach are off the beaten path. Why not blend the superior off-road performance of the ZR2 with the do-anything capability of the Silverado HD? It just makes sense.
Some of the most notable highlights of the ZR2 HD Silverado include a factory lift, advanced DSSV dampers, and a rear locker. There is also a large steel transfer case skid plate and an aluminum skid plate in the front.
The ZR2 also features specially-designed upper and lower control arms for off-road performance. 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires hug the 18 by 9-inch aluminum wheels. It’s easy to find your sense of adventure in a truck like this.
Chevy is making the ZR2 exclusive to the 2500 Crew Cab configuration of the Silverado HD. A 6.6L gasoline V8 engine comes standard but the popular 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel engine is an available option.
How do the numbers stack up? Well, the gasoline V8 produces 401 horsepower with 464 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the Duramax turbo-diesel V8 generates 470 hp with 975 pound-feet of torque.
As for the max payload, the gas V8 gives you up to 3,397 pounds. With the Duramax diesel, you’ll have a max trailering rating of 18,500 pounds. This truck is a workhorse.
Whether you want off-road performance or towing and payload capabilities, the ZR2 HD delivers the best of everything in spades. Who says you can’t combine work and play? The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD ZR2 says you can.
