Driving down 136th Street in the Port Morris neighborhood of the South Bronx, it’s easy to tune out the scenery: one warehouse after another, windowless brick buildings as far as the eye can see. There could hardly be a more welcome sight than the Bronx Brewery, tucked away a few city blocks from the East River, the view of which is supplanted by an industrial skyline. It’s no wonder Bronx Brewery founders chose the spot to set up shop; the people in the South Bronx work hard, and so does the team at Bronx Brewery. With a “no egos, no BS” philosophy, Bronx Brewery delivers no-nonsense brews like the Bronx Brewery Summer IPA that are short on pretension but big on character.
The seasonal IPA is available from April through September and is available in 12-packs of their 12 oz cans. For locals and road trippers, the 7.2 ABV IPA is available on draft in the brewery’s taproom, which is open seven days a week. Big on lemon peel aroma and citrus fruit flavor, the Summer IPA is brewed with an a Hopsteiner Experimental varietal and a blend of extra pale and mild malt grains.
