As you stand sock-footed in the TSA security line, hoping your flight doesn’t leave without you and really really hoping you don’t get seated next to an armrest hog, maybe the idea of owning your own dang plane has crossed your mind. That thought certainly crossed the minds of Cirrus customers throughout the years.
Makers of one of the most popular personal aircrafts, Cirrus Aircraft started out in 1984 in a Wisconsin barn, building and delivering kit airplanes to customers. Now they make the world’s best-selling civil (ie, non-commercial) aircraft, the SR22. The original model in the series, the SR20 began flying customers wherever their hearts desired back in 1999 and since then, the company has delivered nearly 8,000 SR Series aircraft.
To celebrate the delivery of their 8,000th plane later this year, they’ve designed the Cirrus 8000 Limited Edition SR Series Aircraft. It’s a run of eight, limited-edition aircraft decked out in bold Volt (yellow/green) and black colorway with daring, runway-inspired graphics on the exterior.
Inside, the Volt color scheme is carried through the stitching on the upholstery and doors, with luxury perforated leather on the seats and power lever. Of course the limited-editions will come standard with all the features that have helped Cirrus capture the personal aviation market, from the Garmin-integrated flight deck and the award-winning safety systems that include the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (basically a parachute for the entire plane).
The limited-edition Cirrus 8000s will ship out to their new owners this year and will include curated gifts and personalized events for the new owners to enjoy before getting to the real star of the show — taking off in their own, eye-catching personal aircraft.
