Funky Buddha Mint Julep Beer

Published By

Kentucky Derby season means you should enjoy yourself a mint julep. So go ahead and grab some sugar, your bourbon, a few sprigs of mint, a glass, a muddler and get to it. Or… in the spirit of the ease that comes with the warming May month, just open up a bottle of this. Funky Buddha Brewery out of Florida is at it again, putting truly inventive brews in a bottle and this one has all the hallmarks of something the curious must try.

To start, High West Whiskey Barrel-Aged Mint Julep beer is made from a mash that’s similar to the grain bill for bourbon with the inclusion of rye and corn. Then the brew rests in barrels once used to age whiskey, provided by High West Distillery out of Park City, Utah (interestingly, the first legal distillery in the state since 1870). Then for a real mint julep finish, the beer has fresh mint — and a 12% ABV. Learn more at Funky Buddha Brewery.
