Hegid Celeste Steel Watch

Retro-futuristic design is an already contradictory style with a throwback look that’s well-ingrained in our imaginations. So, it’s actually difficult to make it contemporary. The French furniture brand, Hervet, successfully takes on this challenge with the Hegid Celeste Steel Watch. Its angularity and brilliant use of brushing on the case’s several surfaces come together to form the watch version of a well-composed, modern-day electronic song.

Even the dial’s downright poppy use of circles (inspired by planetary bodies) and color accents are like well-incorporated synths. I suppose it’s no surprise that one of the Hervet cousins was Daft Punk’s art director. This product of space and time features a sapphire crystal, Swiss automatic movement, and 100 meters of water resistance.
