That The James Brand should collaborate with an artist comes as no surprise. The Portland-based knifemakers have been creating pocketable works of art for nearly a decade. The James x Sebo Walker Duval Knife is a collaboration with soccer player-turned-skateboarder-turned-artist Sebo Walker.
The James Brand commissioned a tryptic from him which will soon hang in the TJB offices. But before that, they digitally captured the artwork and reproduced it on the G-10 scales for their Duval knife, then hand-assembled each one. Every scale has a different part of the image on it, so no two knives are exactly alike.
Only 50 Sebo Walker knives will be made, and each one comes with a signed and numbered 8 by 10-inch print of the original art. Of course, in addition to the collector-worthy status of the collaboration is the knife itself. A one-handed flipper knife with a secure frame lock design, the Duval is easy (and cool) to open and operate, and thanks to James’ commitment to lasting quality, it’s a piece you’ll use and carry for decades.
