Kulshan Brewing Kitten Mittens Winter Ale

Philly business owner and known cat enthusiast Charlie Kelly may not have taken the world by storm with his invention that (finally!) stopped cats from stomping around all the time, but at least we have this beer. Brewed up by the good folks at Kulshan Brewing up in the top corner of Washington state, Kitten Mittens Winter Ale is a medium-bodied warmer with plenty of roasty, dark malts including chocolate and Munich. Balancing out that roasty goodness, there’s a good dose of hops including Oregon-born Willamette and English Fuggle but the bitterness is kept at a low 35 IBU.

Clocking in at 8% ABV, this will warm you up quick, whether you’ve got mittens on your paws or not. As a seasonal release, the men and women of Bellingham get first dibs at the stuff, which can be enjoyed on one of two outdoor beer gardens the brewery recently expanded. Or those in the PNW can get it by the can at local retailers to enjoy at home — assuming their cats aren’t walking too noisily to spoil the experience.
