Muyshondt Flieger 1930 Electric Torch

Getting better with age isn’t something you always expect from a flashlight. But that’s where Muyshondt sets itself apart from the other EDC torch makers out there. With its hand-applied matte black finish, the Flieger 1930 Electric Torch was designed to carry the same vintage appeal as a clacking Underwood typewriter or a first generation Leica 35mm camera. The finish will slowly wear away over time and with use, revealing the golden bronze of the monocoque aluminum bronze case beneath.

The clear, daylight-balanced light is delivered through Muyshondt’s Calibre 816 Light Engine with five brightness settings running from a single lumen to 720. The Flieger is built around the brand’s rechargeable MPC-18650P Power Cell but you can swap in CR123A batteries with the included adapter. Both ends are finished off with premium stuff — their synthetically-grown sapphire crystal lens and anti-reflective coating at the head, and a domed titanium push button at the tail. At 4.6 inches long, the Flieger 1930 is a portable, powerful addition to your EDC, one that you’ll still be carrying deep into the 2030s.
