If you love powerful pickups, the Nikola Badger Electric Truck is about to grab your attention. Not only does it feature a rugged and stylish pickup truck design, it is a capable workhorse. Electric vehicles are the wave of the future, but 20 years ago it would have been difficult to imagine an electric truck as impressive as the Badger is.
With up to 906 horsepower available, the Nikola Badger is a very powerful machine. The Badger also features up to 980 foot pounds of torque, rivaling almost any diesel pickup truck on the market. The plug-in hybrid Badger features up to a 600 mile range on a full charge. All of this power translates into the ability to rocket from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 2.9 seconds.
How is all of this possible? The Nikola Badger combines electric vehicle engineering with hydrogen fuel-cell technology. Nikola plans on building 700 new hydrogen stations in North America to increase accessibility for Badger drivers in the near future. Splitting water vapor to generate energy is not a new concept, but it is also not mainstream when it comes to modern vehicles.
The Nikola Badger is still capable of operating as a fully electric vehicle, but without the hydrogen, it will only feature a range of about 300 miles with a lot less power. When operating with the hydrogen fuel cell, the Badger should be able to tow up to 8,000 pounds. The Nikola Badger will feature a 4×4 Independent Wheel Drive (IWD) system. This means power will be available to each of the four wheels when necessary.
