Sierra Nevada Strainge Beast Hard Kombuchas

Published By

Notice the extra “i” in Strainge Beast? It’s not a typo. It’s a reference to the yeasty and bacteriological strains in Sierra Nevada’s latest fermentation experimentation, Strainge Beast Hard Kombuchas. If an earthy coworker has ever regaled you with their adventures in home kombucha-making, they no doubt mentioned the SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). It’s the rubbery blubbery cap that enables the magic of fermentation. And Sierra Nevada has developed its very own specimen.

You may have enjoyed regular kombucha for its health tonic properties. That version carries a super low alcohol content (in the realm of one percent). But hard kombucha undergoes a second fermentation to get the ABV closer to your favorite IPA.

There are four flavors, each using organic fruits, spices, and herbs to create something bubbly, bright, and tangy. It’s a refreshing way to mix it up when you want a break from familiar concoctions brewed with regular old barley, yeast, water, and hops.
