The King of Cool is back again. Not in the flesh, but in a beautifully framed, individually numbered archive quality print photograph.
Taken in California in June of 1963, the photo immortalized here features McQueen in his signature 1956 Jaguar XKSS—a car he bought from an unnamed Sunset Boulevard TV personality with a $5,000 check. The “Green Rat”, as the Jaguar would come to be known, was a constant companion to McQueen as he cruised the streets of Los Angeles and the California coasts.
McQueen isn’t the only famous part of this photo, though. It was taken by John Dominis, a renowned photojournalist who was later assigned to cover the Vietnam War for TIME Magazine. That makes this gorgeous print from Sonic Editions all the more interesting as a conversation piece, and a perfect decoration for any guy’s bare walls.
