Vivobarefoot Esc Tempest

Vivobarefoot has done something that’s increasingly difficult to do in the world of sneakers — they’ve done something we’ve never seen before, something so innovative that it’s got to be seen to be believed. Yes, the Vivobarefoot ESC Tempest jumps right off the page at you, but it’s the rest of this high-performance sneaker’s many attributes that impress us the most. Vivobarefoot touts the Tempest as the best “Swim Run shoe on the planet,” and we’re hard-pressed to argue with them.

The shoe redefines the meaning of a performance sneaker, starting with the ankle sock construction and carrying over to the sole developed in partnership with Michelin (that’s right — as in, Michelin tires). The ankle sock construction sits atop a rugged and grippy rubber outsole for transitioning from water to land, while the lightweight organic foam cage upper delivers ventilation and drainage. Plus, the color combinations are pretty neat, to say the least. There’s no need to wonder if these sneakers can stand up to your summer excursions into the stream and onto the trail — they were made for it.

The best “swim run shoe on the planet.”
