Wellen: Three Ways To Dress This Summer
Dressing for summer should be simple—and it is. But it often doesn’t feel like it, does it? How can I look casual without looking sloppy? For road trips, can’t I just throw on those wildly baggy sweatpants and that big comfy t-shirt with the stain on it? The answers are yes you can, and sure, if you don’t plan on stopping anywhere near civilization.
I got these answers and several easy style tips from the coastal attire gurus over at Wellen, and now I’m sharing them with you. Here are three ways to dress this summer for three ubiquitous season-specific occasions. Think more about bonfires, ball games, and sunsets and less about what to wear.
Poolside
Just add a cooler full of your favorite beer, a handful of friends, and a sun-friendly playlist.
Wellen Easy Linen Short Sleeve Shirt
Ah, linen. He truly is the king of summer regalia. Add a touch of rayon to him, and you’ve got a breezy, beautiful drape that’s subtly silky without going full Aloha shirt. A super soft button-down, the Wellen Easy Linen Short Sleeve Shirt is handsomely laid-back yet classy thanks to said formula and its buttonless collar—ties aren’t welcome here.
And that’s whether you go for the resort-ready solid colorways or the fun surfer patterns. Even more, the copper-toned buttons anchor the whole look without taking away from the effortlessness.

Wellen Lined Swim Trunks
Honestly, the best swim shorts are retro-inspired ones. The Wellen Lined Swim Trunks are just that, but with a contemporary cut. They’re a bit looser but still flatteringly close enough to the body, and stop right above the knee. They’re stylish, but a lot more nonchalant than what you’d see on a ‘60s Malibu Ken doll.
Another modernized quality about these trunks is their function factor. They’re made out of polyester for its strength and quick-drying capabilities (so you don’t have to change when you’re moving from the pool to the barbecue pit), as well as stretchy spandex for mobility and comfort.

Walden River Sunglasses
The Walden River Sunglasses are, dare I say, universally complementary. This is due to their familiar yet unique design, a combination of best practices from the classics. They’re like straighter Wayfarers, with the easy turns of an Aviator, and the dapper strength of a browline, only all around.
They’ll bring a sense of confidence to your poolside game. This is partly because the tapered temples secure them to your face without sitting too tightly, and partly because they’re built for life and are fully UVA and UVB protective.

Driving Up The Coast
Whether you’re cruising down the Pacific coast highway in a drop top or the Overseas highway through the Florida Keys, you’ll look sharp with these essentials and ready to pull over at a moment’s notice for a quick dip in the ocean.
Wellen Newport Hemp Polo Shirt
Our poolside combo already proved that collared shirts can be as comfortable as a henley. The Newport Hemp Polo further cinches this, while also showing you how well a polo shirt can do on the road. Wellen takes the template of a tried-and-true golf staple, then remixes it with a travel-friendly hemp blend that adds slack to the still refined fit.
This durable shirt is naturally breathable, perfect for when that sunlight pours into your car. Plus, that fine striping, those sunburst fish eye buttons, and that solid-toned tape under the buttoning would look attractive with any outfit.

Wellen Hybrid Cruiser Shorts
Another successful Wellen formula, the Hybrid Cruiser Shorts look like lovingly lived-in flat-front chinos, operate as practically as a surfer’s boardshorts, and boast a softness made for a long drive or a hammock nap. The polyester and spandex surface have a sun-kissed aesthetic, for a warm, heathered-like look. Basically, they’ll function like cozy pajamas when you’re in relaxation mode, and as put-together attire when you’re running an errand or filling up your gas tank.

Seavees Huntington Middie Sneaker
True cool factor means bringing something casually new to the table; something useful and not superfluous, something that doesn’t scream for attention but gets it. Something like the Seavees Huntington Middie Sneaker. It’s simultaneously understated and distinguished, and genuinely easy to wear with anything, style-wise and functionally.
As a slip-on, it’s as simple as a summer shoe should be, but its higher sneaker profile provides classic contours and a vintage vibe despite it being a brand new thing. Overall, the suede upper and the rubber outsole serve up both looks and pragmatism.

Netflix and Chill
Comfortable garb perfect for binge watching YouTube videos, your favorite shows on Netflix, and anything else that doesn’t require you to leave the couch for extended periods of time.
Wellen Ripple Beach Lightweight Crewneck Sweatshirt
Summer calls for some indoor fun too, and when you’re on a home date, whether with another person, yourself, or someone of the canine variety, Wellen’s Ripple Beach Sweatshirt brings the cozy. Its organic cotton construction is lightweight enough for summer nights and transitional weather though, so if you’re curled up on the couch of your beach house, you can still occasionally step out for some fresh air.
Inspired by the waves in the wind, the surface of this sweatshirt is knitted with wispy linework, adding slight dimensionality. Between that and the sunglasses-friendly chest pocket, this crewneck is a masterclass in indoor-outdoor wear.
Price: $88
Wellen Ripple Beach Shorts
The shorts counterpart of the Wellen Beach Sweatshirt, these guys flaunt the same agreable 100% organic construction, as well as the knit inspired by the moving oceans. That being the case, you can indeed wear these out and about, especially since their hand pockets and back pocket are perfect for phones and other EDC. They’ll definitely bring the comfort of a night in wherever you are.
Another thing those pockets are good for? The remote control and a place to store those extra beer cans when you’re traveling from your refrigerator back to your couch.

Mack Weldon One-Mile Slippers
Bless Mack Weldon for taking the time and science to master weekend lounging. Better than gym socks or overly flat indoor footwear, the One-Mile Slippers are engineered, not just designed but engineered, for personalized comfort on every front. The memory foam footbed feels like a hug, while the interior lining is mercifully anti-odor. The entire slipper is also water resistant incase you need to run out to get the mail.
