WhistlePig Roadstock Rye Whiskey

America does two things exceptionally well: Whiskey and road trips. Apparently, the folks over at WhistlePig Rye agree, as evidenced by their latest creation. Born of a 6,000-mile cross country journey, the WhistlePig Roadstock Rye Whiskey is a truly one-of-a-kind spirit that embodies the best of the U.S.

Starting from their distillery in Vermont, the WhistlePig crew loaded up a semi trailer with the first “rolling rickhouse,” filling it with barrels of their latest batch of rye. Along the way, they met up with racecar drivers for a day on the tracks to honor American whiskey’s bootlegging heritage. Then, they met up with Firestone Walker Brewing Company in California to transfer the rye into imperial stout, imperial blonde ale, and experimental ale barrels before making the return trip to Vermont.

And as for the whiskey itself? It’s phenomenal. Bottled at 86 proof, it’s ridiculously complex and nuanced. Notes of berries and caramel lead the nose, and precious woods form the base of the flavor. Seriously: Buy a bottle before there’s none left.
